The Survival & Early Childhood Global Resource Curriculum (GRC) contains Additional Home Visit lesson plans that provide 15 alternative lessons not included in the core curriculum. These lessons allow the implementer to address specific issues if and when they arise. For example, if a caregiver is dealing with trauma-related problems, experiencing intense grief or unable to breastfeed her child, an implementer has additional lessons at her disposal to address these specific issues. Alternatively, if a specific caregiver needs an extra emphasis on reading or writing, there are additional home visit lessons for literacy. Finally, if an Implementer wants to address a recurring issue with a preventable disease, she can go to this extra set of lessons to find the one designed for Malaria, HIV/AIDS, addictions or STIs.

Note: The language in these lessons primarily references mothers as the caregiver. However, the content applies to any primary caregiver – father, grandmother, guardian, etc. Feel free to tweak the language to fit your context as appropriate.
